About Avora

Our Story

Avora was born from a simple belief: African fashion deserves a place at the center of the luxury conversation, not the margins.

For too long, incredible craftsmanship — hand-beaded details, rich textiles, silhouettes that carry generations of artistry — has been overlooked by the global fashion industry. We started Avora to change that. We work directly with visionary African designers, bringing their collections to discerning customers across the US, Canada, and the UK, without the wait times or guesswork that usually come with buying from overseas.

Every piece in our collection is chosen with intention. We don't just stock what's trending, we curate what's timeless: the kind of pieces that make you feel something the moment you put them on. Bold prints. Sculptural silhouettes. Details you won't find anywhere else. Because luxury isn't just about price, it's about story, and craft, and care.

A note from our founder

Hi, I'm Lucy — founder of Avora.

I was born in Nigeria, and I've always loved fashion. Growing up, I dreamed about fashion school, but like most kids of traditional African parents, I ended up in tech instead. Still, I always knew fashion would find its way into my life somehow.

I originally set out to launch my own clothing brand. But while shopping around for African designers to understand the space, I ran straight into the exact problem I'm now trying to solve: long wait times, expensive shipping, sizing that never quite matched what showed up at my door, and no real way to return or exchange something that didn't work out. So I pivoted. Instead of adding one more brand to the pile, I decided to fix the experience first and build something that made it easier for everyone to shop African fashion with confidence.

There are so many incredible African designers the world hasn't discovered yet, not just the big names people already know, but smaller, niche labels making genuinely great, high-quality pieces. Avora is my way of putting them on the map, one collection at a time.

This is more than a store to me. It's personal.

When you shop Avora, you're not just buying a garment. You're supporting African designers building global brands, on their own terms. You're wearing a piece of a story that started long before it reached your closet.

We're just getting started — but we're so glad you're here for it.
